Web design, consulting, and solutions

Michel Godts—freelance web graphic designer

I am a freelance, web graphic designer who supports the online communication needs of for profit and nonprofit organizations by offering consulting, creative, and production services from my home office in Rochester, New York.

It all started in Belgium

Raised in Belgium, I hold a master’s degree in graphic design (1979), from the Institut Saint Luc in Brussels, and a bachelor’s degree in photography (1975), earned at INRACI, also in Brussels.

PictureFrom 1980 to 1984, I worked as a freelance graphic designer in Brussels. Since 1984, I have specialized in the use of cutting-edge computer technology for designing and producing graphic communications. That year, I founded Digigraphic Studio, the first company in Belgium to offer electronic design and production services for the printing and audiovisual industry on personal computers. (If you want to know who bought the first Apple Laser Writer ever sold in Belgium—that was my firm!)

IllustrationThen Houston and Philadelphia

I came to the United States in 1987 to be with my wife, who is American. In Houston my work history included tenure with Steven Sessions Design, Savage Design Group, Hill Design Group, and Edge Creative Strategies. During the academic year of 1991 to 1992, I worked in Philadelphia for Marcolina Design before moving back to Houston. Our son was born that year.

I worked for these companies as a graphic designer, art director, and multimedia manager, developing my skills from print design to interactive CD-ROM design, and ultimately to website consulting and design in 1993.

And now Rochester

In the summer of 2004, we moved to Rochester when my wife joined the faculty of the University of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music. I registered Michel Godts eDesign as a DBA in Fall 2004 to offer freelance consulting and web design services. Currently, I am working for clients from Rochester, New York City, Dallas, and Houston.
